WICed Fest 2002 Recap
Shenanigans went down big time at the Fifth Annual WICed Fest! Check out this quick recap to see what all the commotion was about!
Impressive….that’s the one word that I think of every year to describe the WICed Fest and this year was no exception. It seems that every year gets better, bigger, and phatter!
Friday started off all overcast and ugly. I worked until about noon and headed down to Candlewood for the weekend. I helped the crew set everything up and by the time we had finished, the sun had ripped through and the day was ready for riding. Before we get to that though, I really have to hand it to Rob Anderson, his crew at AXIS Boardsports, Talbot from the Marina and all the people who help us every year. We really have figured this thing out and setting up for this year’s event went smoother than it every has. There were no hitches. So, we get out and get some riding in. Conditions were decent and everyone in the crew had a great run. I was lucky enough to ride with listees Steve Haynes, Brent Franklin, and their respective others. All rode well and started getting stoked on that nights activities.

WICed Fest Selects Malibu Boats
Malibu boats have been requested as the official tow boat at yet another booming lifestyle event. WICed Fest, the Northeast’s premiere grassroots wakeboard festival is set to go off June 7- 9 in CT.
(Merced, CA) – Malibu boats have been requested as the official tow boat at yet another booming lifestyle event. WICed Fest, the Northeast’s premiere grassroots wakeboard festival is set to go off June 7th – 9th on Connecticut’s Candlewood Lake. The waters will be seeded with an armada of Malibu boats provided by one of Malibu’s top dealers, East Coast Flightcraft. The town of New Fairfield, CT will welcome WICed Fest thrashers from all over the Northeast.
Event coordinators wrapped their brains around the WICed Fest idea more than 5 years ago and the popularity of this wakeboard lifestyle party has been skyrocketing ever since. Attendance doubled last year and reached the 700-mark. This year Rob Anderson and Dan DeLaiarro, co-founders of WICed Fest, are anticipating even more fun-seeking riders.
A Celebration of Riding and Lifestyle
WICed Fest isn’t just about wakeboarding, it’s about the wakeboarding lifestyle as well. For that reason, the organizers of the WICed Fest have decided to put together not only a grassroots festivals that celebrates riding, but a festival that celebrates the wakeboarding lifestyle. Here’s how we plan on accomplishing that goal:
Bands
As has been the case for the last three WICed Fests, we’ll have bands playing all day on Saturday. We had so many people looking to play this year and I thank everyone for their interest. The lineup will look like this:
On top of all these bands, we will have DJ Brian Blair spinning cool beats at the Malibu Luau Saturday night. All this music for free! Does it get any better than this?

Wow, I couldn’t believe it when I looked at my calendar and realized that WICed Fest 2002 is only four shorts week from today!
